Learn how to bring your  expertise in black history and culture into the public sphere. This Calderwood Seminar challenges students in an intimate workshop setting to grow as writers. Throughout the semester, students will build a writing portfolio that might include op-eds, book reviews, journal article reviews, coverage of public talks, movie reviews, and interviews with Africana studies scholars. Classes will include collaborative editing workshops, guest lectures from expert writers, and activities to build a strong writing foundation. You have learned how to write for college, now learn how to write for life. Prerequisite: At least one course in Africana studies. Enrollment limited to 12. Juniors and Seniors only. Instructor permission required.
