This course is about a detailed study of the structure and the function of the human musculoskeletal systems (e.g. joints, bones and muscles). In addition, a few motor control and biomechanical principles that apply to musculoskeletal movement (e.g., action potentials, force modulation, line of pull, moment arm and relate a muscles’ line of pull to generating a torque) are introduced. Students learn the skeletal system and skeletal muscles involved in athletic movements and how joints and ligaments promote and limit these movements. Enrollment limited to 20.
