A study of the role of religion in American politics, including the intersection of religion and partisan polarization, public law and civil liberties, electoral politics, civic engagement, and democracy. The course also examines the rise of secularism in the United States since the late 20th century and political causes and consequences of this trend. Designation: American. (E)
