Clinical Psychology integrates science, theory, and practice to understand and alleviate maladjustment, disability and discomfort among people of all types. For undergraduates interested in this broad discipline, it can be useful to appreciate early the distinctions among different clinically oriented careers. Furthermore, because clinical professionals have master or doctoral degrees, it is essential to understand the types of experiences that undergraduates should (and in fact need to ) explore to help prepare them for such advanced study. Waiting until their junior or senior years to appreciate or pursue such experiences can often set students far behind in their quest to get into graduate school. Thus the aim of this course is to provide an introduction to clinical psychology and related fields, and to help students develop a long-range plan for maximizing their undergraduate years in a manner that will perp them well for graduate-level study in clinical psychology (or related fields).
