This class nationalizes the fight for racial equality and expands the timeline so that it begins with World War II and continues through today. Students consider whether recentering our narrative both geographically and chronologically changes our understanding of the past, and they consider what the new story of the past reveals about the contemporary state of racial (in)equality in America today.
