Males and females differ in many ways as regards infectious diseases such as in their exposure to infectious agents, access to and use of treatment, incidence, and outcome. Differences are due to both biological differences between males and females, as well as societal differences associated with gender that are not generally recognized. This seminar will examine differences between males and females for a variety of infectious diseases. The seminar will have a global perspective, with examples from developing and developed countries, and will concentrate on diseases which are a potential threat to global public health in the 21st century, including emerging infectious diseases.
The course is open to Public Health Graduate students only
