This six-week seminar introduces the R programming language. The focus is on manipulating and visualizing large datasets. We'll also cover the fundamentals of R and its data structures, using R for calculating statistics, connecting R to a database, and other useful features. Coursework will be comprised of many graded programming assignments. Students are expected to have programming skills at the level of a first year graduate student in computer science.
Open to Graduate students only. Undergraduates may enroll with permission of instructor. Students seeking special permission may request overrides via the online form found here: https://www.cs.umass.edu/ugrad-education/courses .
