This is an interdisciplinary course that draws from a range of different art forms, as well as history and social science, to examine the ways in which race appears in the contemporary arts. Some central questions are: How does race structure the arts in terms of content and form as well as other levels of cultural and political representation? Why is it important to have equal representation of forms within the cultural sphere? Who creates? Who views? Who has access to circulation? How does this affect all of as citizens of a community? This course satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Engl majors.
This class is open to Senior English majors only PreReq:English200w/CorE200&201 This class is intended for English primary majors only.
