iCons II: "Integrated Scientific Communication", will emphasize written and oral communication skill building activities in a variety of formats, emphasizing the different demands placed on scientists when they interact with scientists from their own discipline and from other disciplines, with students, and with the general public. Students in this course will work on individual and team based projects, with different sections of iCons II focusing on different themes, such as Biomedicine and Renewable Energy. Students will learn to read, write, speak, and debate on topics in their theme areas. This course emphasizes peer mentoring, with iCons II students mentoring students in the iCons I course to help them make the transition to team bases, problem oriented learning.
PreReq: Natsci 190IH This course is restricted to students accepted in to the iCons Program who have successfully completed NATSCI 190IH. Section 02 is for students in the Renewable Energy track.
