Asian Studies 497C - ST- Korean Language: Lit

In this course, students will learn advanced level Korean through Korean literature. Students will achieve deeper understanding of Korean culture and society through a lens of literature. Students will read the various genres of literature texts, write reflection journals, and discuss about them in class. Assignments will include creative writing and literary translation. Academic reading and writing skills will be the forefront learning goal; however, formal speaking and listening will be emphasized as well. By the end of the course, students will be able to describe, narrate, compare, and report a paragraph level discourse in a coherent manner. Students will also be able to talk about abstract concepts.
