To prepare students for writing an honors thesis, this class provides students with foundational knowledge and skills to begin conducting research in real-world settings with communities. Upon completing the course, students will have obtained a human subjects training certificate; compared traditional research to community-based participatory research; formulated a research question; written an academic abstract; evaluated professional oral presentation techniques; learned what makes a good poster for professional presentation; and gained valuable cross-cultural communication skills.
Open to Senior, Junior and Sophomore Commonwealth Honors College students only. This is a blended, on-line course which requires students to meet as a class on selected days with the instructor three times during a semester.
Students who are not Commonwealth Honors College students may seek permission of the instructor to enroll.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
