Faculty First Year Seminars 197PSE1 - Career and Happiness

A fulfilled career and lasting happiness require self knowledge ? how one understands his/her own values, desires, choices, and habits of dealing with self and others. Though vitally important, self knowledge is more difficult to obtain than knowledge about the outside world, as the former requires our eyes to look inward, which unfortunately is not one of our born habits. Using the concepts discussed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, one of the most influential self-help books in history, this class will explore topics such as self awareness, values, interpersonal relationship, career, and happiness. These explorations help one to make conscious effort to elevate him/herself in negotiating with life challenges, uncovering passions and dreams, and becoming a positive contributing member of the society.
