Enhances the thesis research for students in the iCons program through peer student support teams and advanced scientific communication. The purpose of this course is to blend team-based learning and undergraduate scientific research to enhance students' communication skills and to promote integration of mulch-disciplinary approaches to solving scientific problems.
NATSCI 289H, 389H, or BIO 383H NatSci 490 FH enhances the 499Y research/ thesis experience for students in the iCons program through peer support teams and advanced scientific communication. The purpose of this course is to blend team-based learning and undergraduate scientific research to enhance students' communication skills and to promote integration of multi-disciplinary approaches to solving science problems. Students work in teams to create video abstracts of their thesis projects, communicating to a general audience the motivation, methodology and impact of their research.
(NOTE: To complete the iCons Program students must also enroll in 499Y in their home department via a contract form and proposal submitted to the Commonwealth Honors College office: 499Y Honors Research - Thesis/Project Part I Contract form. Check with your Honors Program Director and your Honors Thesis/Project Research Chair to determine if your department has alternative or supplementary guidelines.)
