This seminar is based on gene expression being influenced by our choices-what we eat, physical activity, environment, and overall lifestyle. It is fascinating how we can choose to live well by modifying our intake or activities and in turn controlling the expression of genes that are directly related to obesity, diabetes, CVD, and cancer. I believe this seminar would be a great way of introducing the incoming freshmen to the possibilities that lie ahead in terms of both prevention and cure of significant disease conditions leading towards a much healthier lifestyle through simple day to day modifications.
Open to freshmen in the following majors: Public Health, Communication Disorders, Kinesiology, and Nutrition.
