This class is about 1. Ideas that have chagned the discipline of history. 2. Ideas that have changed the larger flow of history. 3. Ideas that have changed you, the student, and your relationship to history. 4. Ideas that have changed your personal history.Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Hist majors. (No credit after History 391G).
This course is open to Senior & Junior History majors only. In this course we will examine the geography concept of "once space,
many places," and historicize it. In other words, we will examine the
impact of historical geography on the study of history in the past
several decades in the United States and other countries. This course
will require extensive reading and occasional field trips. By the end
of the course students will be able to discuss many of the Big Ideas
in historical geography and be able to articulate the ways these ideas
have shaped our history. This course fulfills the IE requirement for
History majors.
