This course will familiarize students with both fundamental and advanced lighting technology and programming through both lecture and hands-on lab projects. We will begin working on basic lighting consoles to establish proper cueing vocabulary and then progress to modern, state-of-the-art consoles. Our approach will be slanted towards lighting design for concerts and live events, however the knowledge is equally applicable to theater.
The course will culminate in two final projects; the first being a lab where students will program two "light shows" to two songs, and the second a paper project where students will design a concert plot with supporting paperwork.
