The mechanisms which generate endogenous daily, tidal, and annual oscillations in organisms will be considered at the level of physiology, genetics and molecular and cell biology. The synchronization of these rhythms by the physical environment and the use of the clock for photoperiodism and orientation will be studied. Assigned readings from original scientific literature. With Biology 494LI, this course satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BS-Biol majors.
