Natural Language Processing (NLP) uses mathematics, data, and linguistics to teach computers how to understand human language. Assignments and programing projects to implement and improve NLP systems, such as machine translation and parsing. Honors Enrichment: Extra readings from research papers and discussion. Students will be responsible for paper presentations.
Open to seniors and juniors in Commonwealth Honors College majoring in Computer Science. COMPSCI 220 or 230 & 240 w/ C AN ALTERNATE PREREQUISITE OF LINGUIST 492B IS ACCEPTABLE FOR LINGUISTICS MAJORS; LINGUISTICS STUDENTS WITH PROGRAMMING AND PROBABILITY EXPERIENCE WILL LIKELY BE ADMITTED AND ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT INSTRUCTOR.
