Weekly lectures by guest artists and faculty, group discussions in residence halls and Fine Arts Center classrooms, attendance at Fine Arts Center Performing Arts Series events, Department of Music and Dance events, and University Museum of Contemporary Art exhibitions. Presents an international perspective emphasizing cultural and social diversity. Topics include elements and styles of Western European "classical" music; artistic expression of African-American culture in jazz; styles, choreography and production of dance; theater; photography and visual art. Each topic is illustrated by an exhibition or performance to which the Fine Arts Center provides tickets. (Gen.Ed. AT, G)
Students will attend five evening performances as part of required course work.
Multiple required components--lab and/or discussion section. To register, submit requests for all components simultaneously.
