This course will examine the complexity of this election year through arguments found in political theory. We will use newspaper and magazine articles, videos, as well as selections from important texts in Western political theorizing. The goal is to analyze the present while getting the benefit of past and contemporary reflections on social movements, democracy, and the upheaval that comes into the open when public institutions lose their political legitimacy.
