Intensive writing course dealing with various topics in economics. Fulfills the Junior Year Writing requirement for students whose primary major is Economics at UMass Amherst.
This class is open to Seniors and Juniors whose primary major is in Economics only. ECON 104 & 103/RESEC 102 Intensive writing course applying the tools of microeconomics to current topics. We examine the successes and failures of market-based allocations of society's resources, and the role government, and sometimes nonprofit organizations, could play in correcting market failures. In the recent past, we have looked at education, health care, gun control, tort law and land use regulation. Fulfills the Junior Year Writing requirement.
