Religion is an important aspect of Public Health that is often overlooked. Communicating and working with religious communities is essential in many Public Health interventions. This course will explore what it means to be a public-health professional who has to deal with many different groups of people and communities, none more numerous than religious organization. The course will examine the historical connection between religion and public health by taking a current-event lens to realize what work still needs to be done in Public Heath, particularly those health prerogatives that religious affiliations serve best. Cultural competency will be a special emphasis of this course, notably how to be culturally competent navigating the world of religion and public health.
