If you turn on the TV, flip open a magazine or log on to the Internet, chances are you?ll see a headline about how to quickly drop unwanted weight using the latest exercise fad or diet craze. The truth is, nothing is going to make you fitter or less fat besides breaking bad eating habits and taking up exercise that suits you and not because it is a celebrity favorite. This seminar will focus on current global trends on nutrition and health with particular interest in common misconceptions around food and exercise. The goal of this seminar is to inform students about the ongoing media hype around nutrition and wellness and to offer a healthier alternative to the craze. This seminar will present global data on specific health categories like exercise, eating habits, lifestyle factors like smoking, drinking etc. and how those influence our overall wellbeing. The seminar is also planned to bust common but widely believed food myths like: ?Juice cleanse is the ultimate answer to detoxification and/or lasting weight loss?; or support beliefs like: ?Foods available at any farmer?s market are safe to consume because they meet the food safety criteria.?
