Have you prepared your zombie apocalypse plan? How well would your community fair? Did you know that the CDC recently used this unlikely emergency scenario to demonstrate key concepts in emergency preparedness? Throughout history, epidemics and disasters have influenced the course of public health and emergency management practice. This class will look at famous historical epidemics and disasters and compare them to current public health events. Students will contextualize these public health incidents, their impact on modern public health practice, and gain knowledge of relevant emergency preparedness and management practices.
Open to seniors and juniors in Public Health, Kinesiology, Communication Disorders, or Nutrition. This course is open to Public Health, Kinesiology and Communication Disorders Seniors only from November 12-November 16. On November 17 Nutrition Seniors may enroll as well, and then on November 19 it will be open to Juniors in Public Health, Kinesiology, Communication Disorders and Nutrition as well.
