How computers work, including digital logic, arithmetic, data path, and memory. Students build circuits with prototyping boards; program microcontrollers in assembly language and C to work with various I/O devices. Honors section provides opportunity to work at a deeper level with hardware.
Open to sophomore, junior, and senior Computer Science majors in Commonwealth Honors College. STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN COMPSCI 335. STUDENTS NEEDING SPECIAL PERMISSION MUST REQUEST OVERRIDES VIA THE ON-LINE FORM: https://www.cics.umass.edu/overrides.
