Faculty First Year Seminars 197PSE1 - Career and Happiness

This class is not about where in the world to seek the perfect career and happiness. Rather, it is about how to understand yourself ? your values, desires, choices, and habits ? which would prepare you for a fulfilling career and lasting happiness. Self-knowledge is more difficult to gain than knowledge about the world, as the former requires our eyes to look inward, which unfortunately is not one of our born habits. Using the concepts discussed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, one of the most influential self-help books in history, this class explores topics such as self-awareness, values, choices, interpersonal relationship, career, and happiness. These explorations help you to make conscious effort to negotiate with life challenges, uncover your passions and dreams, and live a fuller life.
