This course is a historical survey of Spain during the later middle ages. The class begins during the highpoint of the al-Andalus or Islamic Spain and concludes following the great Reconquest of the peninsula by Christian kingdoms. Throughout the semester we will address cultural, political and social developments with particular emphasis on the interactions between different ethnic and religious groups. The period under study represents an important turning point in global history and one that continues to have relevance to the present day.
Open to Seniors, Juniors & Sophomores only.
