In this first-year seminar, students will explore topics relevant to the Social and Behavioral Sciences within Latin American and U.S. Latinx communities through a range of multimedia assignments. Each week, we will engage new topics relevant to SBS majors. Students will reflect upon these topics from various perspectives in order to hone in on their own research interests. By the end of the semester, students will practice setting academic goals by developing a plan to articulate and explore their research interest. Additionally, students will make professional and interpersonal connections and discover on-campus opportunities (Including the minor and certificate programs in the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies) that will enhance their ability to contribute productively to their UMass communities in SBS and beyond.
Open to first-year SBS students (include direct admits to all SBS majors and Exploratory Track SBS students) Freshmen Only
