What does it take to be an animal? How do we study animal behavior? This course will present key experiments and foster understanding of the underlying Biology behind Behavior. Topics will vary weekly to present a broad impression of current Neuroscience research. Starting from innate behaviors (aggression, fear, reproduction, hunger) we will aim to understand disorders such as anxiety, depression, addiction, and obesity. Each week?s case will be presented as an invitation to talk about animal behavior. The setup will be mainly discussion-based interactive lectures coupled with assignments to deepen and crystalize knowledge. Students will gain tools to examine and challenge assumptions.
Open to Natural Sciences Freshman with a declared major or on the Natural Sciences Exploratory Track.
