This seminar provides an opportunity for students to reflect on how their research project relates to their previous coursework in Classics and in general education, to collaborate with peers in learning by sharing progress as they complete their projects and offering suggestions to one another for meeting challenges, and to communicate the final results of their projects orally and/or visually to each other and departmental faculty in the setting of a year-end research symposium. With mentoring provided at every stage both by peers and by faculty advisors, Classics 494RI supports students to completion of their independent projects and provides a truly reflective and collaborative capstone experience. To satisfy the Integrative Experience requirement using this option students must complete both the thesis (Classics, Greek, or Latin 499Y/499T; 6 credits) or other appropriate independent project (course numbers vary; minimum 3 credits) and the accompanying research seminar (Classics 494RI; 1 credit) with satisfactory grades.
