New England is a heavily forested region providing tremendous public benefits. The majority of these forests are owned by families. This course will explore the critical role family forest owners play in conservation. The class will be part of a regional class also being offered at the Universities of Maine and Vermont. Each week our class will meet with students from all three universities using web technology, hear from a speaker, and have a New England wide discussion. Students enrolled in the course will have their travel, hotel, and registration paid to attend the New England Society of American Foresters conference in March in Bangor, ME where we will get students from all three schools together for discussion and a field trip. The course will also include local field trips to view family forest scale forest conservation.
This course is open to NRC majors only.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
