Choreographers and other movement artists have explored technology as a way to challenge the boundaries of their own work, discover new ways to fulfill their creative vision and broaden their fields. From revolutionary uses of light, to computer programming and motion capture, to live and recorded video, to sensing and wearable technologies and more, dance making has evolved alongside innovations in technology. In this course, we will study pioneering works and figures in dance and technology. We will consider the impact of various forms of technology that appear in the work, and further intersections of dance making and science. We will practice using multiple forms of media and modes of technology to create movement based experiments and works.
