This course helps students develop a framework for the collection, analysis, and use of school data for educative decision-making. It investigates data-driven decision-making: its theory, its obligations under federal law, and as a normative professional standard.
This course includes, but is not limited to the following topics: 1) the current assessment accountability policy landscape, 2) studies and theories that shed light on the use of data to improve schooling, 3) realistic and multi-dimensional case studies that indicate no simple, clear-cut solution, which is how school administration functions, and 4) discussion/assignments questions that pertain to the case studies and course content.
