We live in perilous times-times in which the ruthless exercise of power often overrides individual conscience, warps the rule of law, and undercuts the values that sustain a humane society. But this is not a new phenomenon. Seminar explores what we can learn about contemporary controversies by examining literature and film about major conflicts of law, power and conscience from 16th Century England to 20th Century America.
This course is open to Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Legal Studies majors only. Pre Req: LEGAL 250 Seniors from other majors may be considered for enrollment only with consent of instructor.
Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
