This course introduces the basic principles and applications of optical components, systems, processing, and methods in engineering. Furthermore, it explores the fundamentals of optical and optoelectronic phenomena and devices based on classical and quantum properties of radiation and matter in lasers and applications. This course also provides the fundamental knowledge for understanding optical metamaterials and their applications. Since the lectures are given at the undergraduate junior level, this course will be particularly useful for graduate students who want to learn contemporary optical engineering and photonics without special prerequisites.
