Public Health 191PUBH13 - FYS- Religion and Health

This course will explore what it means to engage in public health interventions with different groups of people and communities. As professionals in communication disorders, kinesiology, nutrition, and public health, many different types of people will be around and learning how to engage in them in a respectful and culturally competent way. This course will examine the historical connection between religion and health. The curriculum will take a current-event lens to realize what work still needs to be done and which health prerogatives are best served by using religious affiliations. Concepts and materials will place special emphasis on the importance of cultural competency in navigating the role of religion in health fields.

Open to students in the Public Health Exploratory Track and first-year Public Health, Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Communication Disorders majors.
