Biochemistry & Molecular Bio. 420 - Elementary Biochemistry

An elementary course not for Biochemistry majors. Survey of the structure and function of biological molecules, including carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Emphasis on relation to other life sciences. Topics include enzymology, special properties of biological membranes, hormones, vitamins, metabolic pathways, biotransformations and molecular biology. Prerequisite: 1 semester of organic chemistry.

Open to students with majors in Animal Science, Pre-vet, Food Science, Human Nutrition, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Kinesiology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, or Public Health. Also open to other Seniors with consent of the instructor. Pre Req: CHEM 250,261or265w/C- This class will be a larger enrollment and will not be in a TBL room, but will follow the TBL teaching pedagogy.
