This seminar will examine diverse perspectives on the relationship between science and society, and it will explore diverse movements that have sought to create more just, equitable, and/or sustainable forms of scientific practice. We will consider cases from around the world and across the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Students will have the opportunity to complete independent research on a specific topic of their choice that is relevant to the course material.
