In a studio format, students will practice hand-eye coordination as well as develop a deeper understanding of color as a tool of design. Students will learn through freehand figure drawing of live models with and without fabrics on them, as well as through manipulation of colored paper, as inspired by the teachings of designer, artist, and master pedagogue Josef Albers. While the course is taught in the context of theatrical design, the 2-D in the title refers to the notion of designers composing images. While contributing to a more sophisticated visioning and manipulation of space and figures for performance, the skills around color and proportion have application far beyond theatrical design.
This 3 credit course is for graduate students and for upper division undergraduates who would require the permission of instructor.
Permission is required for interchange registration during all registration periods.
