This is a 1-credit course for students with an interest in the implications of cognitive psychology in learning and what it means to college students. Each week, students will explore various topics of the science of learning, e.g., sleep and learning, mindsets toward learning, cramming and learning, exercise and learning, etc.. The seminar will take some of the mystery out of content learning in college and help students develop ?transferrable skills? that will support their learning in current or future courses. These skills include interpreting new information, inquiring and constructing knowledge, developing a learning agenda and plan, and becoming a better student in any subject. The seminar will take the student-centered approach and involve students every step of the way in investigating the meaning of learning for different individuals. At the end, each student will have developed their own learning goals and have proper learning strategies to be successful in their college work.
