In this course, students will focus on technical and scientific German to expand their proficiency in the German language at the advanced level. Students engage with a variety of foundational vocabulary and language structures in mathematics, medicine, biology, chemistry, mechanics, computer science, and electrical engineering. The focus will always be on German perspectives, policies and research to help students build internationally informed views on their STEM-major discipline. Students will investigate these topics via the latest media (documentaries; German science magazines; online visuals, audio and textual resources). In class, students will analyze and discuss these materials, and build upon their listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills - not limited to - but specifically in a STEM context.
Students who completed German 240 or 246 or instructor consent for students with previous German knowledge.
