Cultural humility is defined as an ongoing process of self- reflection and self-critique. It entails working collaboratively with clients, and embracing difference. Cultural Humility empowers individuals to effectively engage in interpersonal relationships that are dynamically diverse and mutually respectful. Incorporating cultural humility as part of one?s lifestyle empowers the individual to recognize and redress power-imbalances that exist within their immediate social and organizational structures.
In this course, students will gain an understanding of the four tenets of Cultural Humility and the history of it's conception as a framework. Students will engage in activities to explore the four tenets and enhance skills for respectful and curious inquiry about individual and community points of view, values and life experiences.
