This course aims to improve public speaking skills of graduate students in Public Policy, both as speakers and listeners. Students will practice informative and persuasive speeches in face-to-face as well as mediated contexts (i.e., online settings). Likewise, we will discuss ethics and active listening in public speaking. Students will develop core skills in composing, delivering, and assessing speeches. They will practice extemporaneous and impromptu speeches tailored to students' professional needs and area of specialization. Due to the adaptive nature of this course, beginner, intermediate, and advanced public speakers can benefit from this seminar.
