Topics include the Neolithic background to the rise of civilizations and theories on the rise and fall of civilizations. (Gen.Ed. HS, DG)
Open to first-year Cultural Explorations RAP students in Mary Lyon Hall. Students in Cultural Explorations RAP in Mary Lyon Hall will enroll together in "Ancient Civilizations" (Anthropology 150). In this course, we will use archeological data to explore a range of ancient societies around the world. We'll discuss different ways that people gain and maintain power from past to present and attempt to relate what we see in the archaeological record to our own human experience.
