This seminar will examine the theme of architecture and race within the context of the Americas and the Caribbean from the colonial era to the contemporary moment. The close examination of pertinent literature, history, and theory will help us to flesh out the ways that architecture narrates race, and vice versa.
Open to BS-ARCH students only. Examines the history and theory of historic preservation, focusing on the United States, but with reference to traditions and practices in other countries. Taught with 597D.
