English 356 - Creative Writing Poetry

A seminar in writing poetry for students who demonstrate familiarity with the basics of imagery, rhythm, and form. Students write regularly, read and criticize one another's writing, read in contemporary poetry.

ENGLISH 354 w/B Interested students should submit a portfolio of 3 poems, and briefly discuss or list your favorite writers, poets and books. Please send to Peter Gizzi's email (gizzi@hfa.umass.edu). Please include contact information. Submission deadline is April 30th. Registration after this date is possible, but priority will be given to students who meet the April 30th deadline. Students will be notified of their status by May 15th. Please let us know 1) if you are seeking the specialization in Creative Writing and 2) when you plan to graduate. Registration by instructor permission only.
