Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature's time tested patterns and strategies. In this class students will be introduced to the fundamentals of polymeric materials so that the useful pattern from the nature can be replicated in polymers economically and provides better engineering solutions to human's need. Application of polymeric materials and processing methods to biomimicry including moth eye, shark skin, morpho butterfly, lotus leaves, gecko feet, moth's eye, etc. will be covered.
