How do you know what's going on in people's heads? Many things of psychological interest are not directly observable. For a loose definition, Wikipedia says "Psychometrics is a field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement," and Merriam-Webster defines "measure" as "to estimate or appraise by a criterion." So, Psychometrics is the field of estimating psychological characteristics. Students will learn how to convert the mysterious human mind and behavior into numbers, and why it is important in scientific research. What are the characteristics of a good psychological measure? Why is the MBTI criticized while it is so fun to talk about? Let's find out what Psychometrics does and how it affects your life.
