As humans, we spend about 1/3 of our lives asleep. And we aren?t the only ones: Whether it?s the sloth who spends 20 hours snoozing or the worker ant who takes over 200 short naps per day, sleep is an extremely popular pastime across the animal kingdom. So, why is sleep so important? In this course, we?ll be exploring the science behind all things sleep, including how we define it and research it; how it differs across ages and animals; and its benefits and costs for our growth, health, and learning. Using science-based tools and activities, you?ll also gain deeper insights into your own sleep, and learn more about the techniques that neuroscientists use to illuminate the secrets of this common behavior.
