Do vaccines cause autism? Does taking vitamins make you healthier? What is complementary and alternative medicine? This course will explore the differences between science-based medicine and pseudoscience, and address why many people make the wrong decisions when it comes to medicine and their health. We will also examine the forces behind the increasing rejection of expert-lead science-based medicine in favor of pseudoscience, popular culture, and personal belief.
Open to junior and senior Public Health majors only. PUBHLTH 129 & 200
